UAE employers accept a clear one- or two-page CV in English, unless the vacancy asks for Arabic. Put your name, target role and contact details first, then a short profile, experience or projects, education, skills and languages. Add a photo, nationality or visa status only when the vacancy asks for them.
The example below is fictional and instructional. Replace every placeholder with your facts and remove any experience or skill you do not have. Its tasks are not a real customer's results.
To start from a layout instead of a blank page, choose a single-column design from the resume templates, which keeps the reading order simple for application systems, then fill it with the example below. For layouts by job and experience level, see the best resume templates guide.
Which CV format is best for UAE jobs?
There is no official UAE CV template. Most employers accept a reverse-chronological CV, with the newest role first, in English and saved as a PDF with selectable text. Follow the vacancy when it asks for something else, such as a Word file, an Arabic version or an online form.
What is the latest CV format for 2026?
The format has not changed much: a short profile instead of a long objective, evidence instead of adjectives, and a clean single-column layout that application systems can read. The main shift is that employers now expect a link to online work, such as a portfolio or LinkedIn profile, when the role involves projects.
Is a UAE resume the same as a UAE CV?
Yes. In the UAE, employers and job portals use "CV" and "resume" for the same document: a one- or two-page summary of your experience, education and skills. Whether a vacancy asks for a Dubai resume or a UAE CV, the format on this page applies.
ArcPixel editorial checked this guide against the American University of Sharjah resume checklist. It has not been individually reviewed by a UAE recruiter, and a vacancy's own instructions take priority over any general template.
For structures you can adapt, compare the resume examples. When your facts are ready, arrange them in the resume builder and inspect the exported file before applying.
The template below works for most entry-level and early-career roles in Dubai and the rest of the UAE. Copy it into Word, Google Docs or a CV builder, replace each placeholder, and save the result as a PDF.

UAE CV format: choose the section order for your experience
A hiring manager should be able to find your target role and strongest evidence without searching through unrelated details. Start with a reverse-chronological structure within each section. For a graduate, education and relevant projects can appear before employment. For an experienced applicant, the recent relevant role usually deserves that space. Keep official job titles accurate; put the title you are applying for in the profile rather than rewriting your employment history.
| Section | Graduate application | Experienced application |
|---|---|---|
| Contact | Name, working phone, professional email, real location | The same; add a useful professional link |
| Profile | Qualification, target role and one relevant project | Specialism and a specific contribution from recent work |
| Main evidence | Projects, placement or genuine volunteer work | Recent relevant roles, dates and selected contributions |
| Education | Degree, institution and actual or expected graduation | Qualification and institution; reduce old coursework detail |
| Skills | Tools you can demonstrate in an assignment or interview | Tools and processes used in the work described above |
Write a Dubai CV profile around a real task
Imagine two applications: a Dubai operations assistant vacancy asks for accurate records, while an Abu Dhabi purchasing assistant vacancy mentions comparing suppliers. Your degree can be the same in both CVs. The supporting project should change if you have relevant evidence for both tasks. Copying a job description into your profile does not establish that you have done the work.
Two profile versions for different vacancies
OPERATIONS APPLICATION
Business graduate with a stock-review university project. Compared transaction entries with a sample inventory list and documented exceptions in Excel. Applying for [operations assistant role] to support accurate records.
PURCHASING APPLICATION
Business graduate who compared supplier quotations for a course assignment. Prepared a comparison sheet covering price, delivery assumptions and missing information. Applying for [purchasing assistant role].
These are alternative fictional examples, not interchangeable claims. Use the second version only if you actually completed that work. You can show an anonymized project extract in a resume-to-portfolio website, with a caption that identifies it as university work.
Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah: does the city change the CV?
No. The CV format above is the same in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah — same sections, same length guidance, same field-by-field decisions. What changes between two applications is the vacancy itself, not the emirate it happens to be posted in.
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| Does a Dubai CV need different sections from a UAE CV? | No. Dubai is an emirate within the UAE, not a separate CV market — everything above applies. |
| What about Abu Dhabi or Sharjah? | Same answer. Nothing in this guide is written for one emirate only. |
| So what actually changes between two applications? | The vacancy: its language, its requested attachments, and whichever personal-details questions its own form asks — covered earlier in this guide, not by city. |
If a specific employer's instructions say something different from any of this, follow the employer's instructions. They are the actual authority on what that one application needs.
Photo, nationality and visa status: decide field by field
There is no single CV checklist that represents every UAE employer. The American University of Sharjah checklist advises leaving nationality and several personal details out. An employer can still ask eligibility questions in its application form. Read the actual instructions and answer those questions accurately in the requested place. A CV design with a photo slot does not make a photo compulsory.
| Information | Practical decision |
|---|---|
| Current location | State your actual city and country. Mention relocation availability separately if relevant. |
| Photo | Check whether the employer requests one. Choose a layout without a photo when it adds no useful information. |
| Nationality / residency | Provide requested information through the specified application fields. Avoid adding document numbers to a public portfolio. |
| Start date | Use an accurate date or notice period. Do not write immediate availability unless it is true. |
| Certificates | State the credential you hold and its issuer. Keep an application or planned exam clearly separate from a completed qualification. |
Check the exported file before submitting it
Use the file format the vacancy asks for. If PDF is accepted, open the exported file, select and copy the text into a plain-text document, and check whether names, headings and dates remain readable. This is a useful quality check, not an ATS certification. When an application form extracts fields, review the extracted version as well. A readable PDF does not prove that every recruitment system will interpret every field correctly.
ArcPixel accepts an existing PDF, DOCX or text resume for import. Review the imported sections, select a layout, and inspect the final PDF before applying. Creating and previewing are free; PDF export needs a paid plan. Import support for DOCX does not mean Word export is available. If a vacancy requires a Word file, use a workflow that produces that requested format.
Using your CV on GulfTalent, Naukrigulf and DubaiVacancy.ae
A CV builder prepares a document; a job platform helps you find and respond to vacancies. Keep those tasks separate. GulfTalent lists CV-building and review services alongside recruitment resources. Naukrigulf provides candidate account guidance. DubaiVacancy.ae describes finding vacancies and emailing a CV. Follow the route in the actual listing; a builder cannot submit the right application on your behalf by generating a file.
| Where you apply | What to prepare | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A portal profile | Accurate structured fields plus the requested CV file | Imported job titles, dates and contact details |
| An employer application form | The file format and answers requested in the vacancy | Required fields and the employer’s confirmation screen |
| An email address in a verified listing | A clear subject, brief message and named attachment | The recipient, job reference and current application instructions |
Application tracker — fill in one row per vacancy
Employer and role: [name / title / vacancy reference]
Original vacancy URL and date checked: [URL / date]
Submission route: [portal / employer form / email]
CV version and required format: [filename / PDF or DOCX]
Evidence of submission: [confirmation or sent-message date]
Next action: [check status / interview preparation / no action yet]
Do not add a website’s name repeatedly to your CV as a keyword. Match the role using truthful skills and evidence. For document-tool selection, see ArcPixel vs Resume.io. For an accepted email application, use the CV email guide, then send through the channel named in the vacancy.
UAE CV questions
For template choices, see best CV templates for the UAE and Saudi Arabia. UAE nationals applying for private-sector roles can follow the Nafis and Emiratisation CV guide. If your work can be shown, add a portfolio link beside your contact details; how to make a portfolio for a job shows what to put in it.
- Where can I download a Dubai CV format as a PDF?
- Copy the template on this page into Word or Google Docs, fill it in and use File > Download > PDF; that costs nothing. In ArcPixel you can build and preview the same layout free, and exporting the PDF needs a paid plan. Open the exported file and check that the text can be selected before you apply.
- Should I write my Dubai CV in English or Arabic?
- Follow the vacancy and application instructions. If the employer gives no language requirement, use the language of the advertisement as a starting point. Keep a second version only when useful, and check that names, dates and skill levels agree across both.
- How long should a CV for the UAE be?
- Give relevant evidence enough space to remain readable. A graduate with one or two projects may need one page. An experienced applicant may need more. Remove repeated responsibilities and irrelevant old detail before reducing the font size.
- Can I apply without UAE work experience?
- Describe the experience you actually have, including work in other countries and clearly labelled projects. Explain relevant tasks and tools. Do not relabel overseas work as UAE experience. Use the graduate CV example if you have no paid work history.
- Can I download a Dubai CV format as a PDF?
- You can export your own CV as a PDF from any word processor or CV builder. In ArcPixel you can build and preview for free; PDF export needs a paid plan. Avoid downloading a filled-in sample and editing it, because other people's details are easy to miss.
- What is the best CV format for Dubai jobs?
- A reverse-chronological CV in English, one or two pages: contact details, a short profile naming the target role, experience or projects with concrete tasks, education and evidenced skills. There is no official Dubai template; follow the vacancy's instructions where they differ.
- How do I make a CV for a job in Dubai?
- Read the vacancy first, then fill the sections above with your own facts and adapt the profile to that role. You can build it in the resume builder: creating and previewing are free, and PDF export needs a paid plan or a Solo trial.
Choose fields from the actual application
- AUS's checklist advises against nationality and several other personal details. That is useful local evidence against the claim that every UAE CV needs them; a particular employer's form can still ask separate eligibility questions.
- Use your real current city. If you are applying from abroad, write your current location and truthful relocation availability; do not put Dubai as your residence merely to appear local.
- For an Abu Dhabi opening, name the exact role and adjust the project evidence to its duties. Moving the city name around is not meaningful tailoring.
- Start with one readable page for a short career history. Add a second only when relevant material needs it. Follow an employer's specified file format and review any parsed application fields.
Why the example is written this way
The project gives the reader an inspectable output: an exception sheet and a repeatable check. It does not invent employment, a percentage improvement, or expertise in an unfamiliar inventory system.
