Customer Service CV Example: Skills, Call Centre Tips and Evidence

A customer service CV should name the channel you supported, such as phone, chat, email or a shop counter, the problems you handled and how you recorded or escalated them. List languages at a level you can demonstrate and the service tools you actually used. A generic claim such as 'excellent communication' gives a recruiter little to assess.

The example below is fictional and instructional. Replace every placeholder with your facts and remove any experience or skill you do not have. Its tasks are not a real customer's results.

Example to copy and adapt

[Name] | Customer-service assistant

[City] | [Phone] | [Email]

PROFILE

Retail assistant moving into customer support, with experience clarifying order queries and recording unresolved issues for a supervisor.

EXPERIENCE — [Actual shop], [Dates]

Asked customers for order details and checked the shop's order log before responding.

Recorded unresolved delivery questions with the order reference and handed them to the supervisor.

Explained the next step using the shop's approved process without promising an unconfirmed delivery date.

SKILLS

Written communication: concise case notes. Records: spreadsheet tracking. [CRM product only if used].

LANGUAGES

Arabic: [level]. English: [level]. [Other language if relevant].

EDUCATION

[Qualification, institution and date]

Build a customer-service CV around the handling of a case

A service role involves more than a friendly tone. Show how you listened, checked information, recorded the issue and passed on unresolved work. These tasks can come from employment, a volunteer desk or a clearly labelled training exercise. Name the channel you used, such as phone, email or in-person support, without claiming experience on channels you have never handled.

Service taskEvidence to include
Understand the requestAsked clarifying questions and recorded the relevant details
Explain the next stepUsed accurate information and checked what the person needed to do
EscalateRecorded the issue and passed it to the responsible colleague
Hand overLeft notes showing the latest action and unresolved question

Fictional example: turn a complaint into a CV bullet

SITUATION: A visitor could not find their registration record at a student event.

ACTION: Checked the spelling and registration reference, recorded the unresolved issue and contacted the coordinator.

HANDOVER: Added the coordinator’s response and the next action to the event log.

CV BULLET: Supported event registration by checking visitor details, documenting unresolved requests and coordinating follow-up with the organizer.

The bullet makes no invented promise about satisfaction scores or response-time improvements. If you have verified workplace metrics, use the actual period and scope. Otherwise the process and your contribution still provide evidence.

Call centre CV: what to add

For a call centre or contact centre role, add the volume and type of contacts you handled, for example inbound billing calls or outbound appointment reminders, the system you logged them in and whether you worked to scripts or quality checks. Write only figures you can explain; an approximate daily range is fine if you label it as approximate.

Describe languages and service tools honestly

For UAE or Saudi applications, follow the language requirements of the vacancy. State your real proficiency and name a CRM or ticketing tool only if you have used it. A spreadsheet log is valid experience in record keeping; it should not be relabelled as professional CRM administration. See the skills guide for task-based wording.

Help articles you wrote, an anonymised ticket you resolved or a process you fixed make a small portfolio stand out in customer service. See the customer service section of portfolio examples for jobs.

What if my only experience is retail or volunteering?
Describe the relevant service tasks and keep the actual role title. Payment handling, answering questions and handing over issues can be relevant when true.
Should I include real customer conversations in a portfolio?
Use a fictional scenario or material you have permission to share. Remove identifying information and do not publish private customer records. A short process example can explain your approach without exposing a real case.
How should I open the CV?
Name your relevant service experience and one task, then connect it to the vacancy. Use the profile examples for an adaptable opening.

Make service quality visible without invented scores

  • Do not claim a satisfaction score, call volume or resolution rate unless you have a reliable record and permission to use it. A well-described case-handling process is useful evidence on its own.
  • For a bilingual support advert, state spoken and written ability honestly. Do not translate the entire CV to imply fluency you cannot demonstrate in a call or email.
  • A student can use reception volunteering or event enquiries if labelled as such. Explain the real questions handled and the point at which you asked for help.
  • Remove customer names, phone numbers and order identifiers from work samples. A fictional example can demonstrate writing, but label it as a simulation.

Why the example is written this way

The sample shows listening, record-checking, notes and escalation. It does not promise that every customer issue was resolved by the applicant or invent experience with a CRM.
