A simple CV format for a job in Pakistan is one or two pages in English: contact details, a short objective, education from your highest degree down to Matric with year and marks or CGPA, work experience or internships, skills, languages and references. Federal government posts are applied for online through FPSC, and Gulf employers often need degrees attested by HEC.
These are common practices, not legal rules, and employers differ. Every example is fictional; replace each [bracketed] detail with your own, and follow the job posting when it asks for something specific.
What a Pakistani CV usually includes
| Section | What to write |
|---|---|
| Contact details | Name, +92 mobile, email, city. CNIC, father's name and domicile belong on application forms when asked, not on every CV |
| Objective or profile | Two lines naming the role and your strongest evidence |
| Education | Highest first: degree with CGPA, then Intermediate (HSSC/FSc/ICS/A-Level) and Matric (SSC/O-Level) with board, year and marks |
| Experience or internships | Newest first, with two results per role |
| Skills | Tools and software the job asks for |
| Languages | English, Urdu and any regional language, with your level |
| References | Two references, or "available on request" if space is tight |
How to list Matric, Intermediate and your degree
- Degree: "BS [subject], [University], [Year] — CGPA [3.40/4.00]".
- Intermediate: "FSc Pre-Engineering, [Board], [Year] — [marks]/1100 ([percentage]%)".
- Matric: "SSC Science, [Board], [Year] — [marks]/1100".
- With several years of experience, keep Matric and Intermediate to one line each.

CV for a teaching job in Pakistan
- Put your teaching qualification next to your degree: B.Ed, M.Ed or a teaching certificate, with institution and year.
- Name the subjects and classes you taught, for example "Mathematics, Grades 6–8", and the curriculum (Matric, O/A Level).
- Add one result per role: improved results, a club you started or training you delivered.
- Mention classroom tools you use only if you can show them in a demo lesson.
Government jobs: FPSC applies online
For federal posts advertised by the Federal Public Service Commission, the application is an online form on the FPSC website, not a CV. FPSC says no hard copy is needed when you apply; documents are requested later. Provincial commissions such as PPSC and SPSC run their own portals, so read the advertisement for the steps.
Applying for jobs in the Gulf
Saudi, UAE and Qatari employers usually expect a two-page English CV with nationality, location and visa status near the top. For the work visa, many ask for degrees attested by HEC and then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so ask the employer which attestations they need before you start. See the Saudi CV format and UAE CV format guides.
- Should I put my CNIC number on my CV?
- Not by default. Give it when an application form asks for it; a CV that is sent to many employers does not need it.
- Do Pakistani CVs need a photo?
- Many local CVs include one, but multinationals and jobs abroad often do not need it. Follow the posting.
- Is a one-page CV acceptable in Pakistan?
- Yes, for freshers. With several years of experience, two pages is normal.
