A CV for a job in Oman is usually two pages in English, with nationality, current location, visa status and notice period near the top. Before applying as an expatriate, check that the role is not reserved for Omani nationals: Oman's Ministry of Labour restricts a growing list of professions, from sales and marketing roles to some IT and transport jobs, under its Omanisation decisions.

Omanisation: check the role before you apply
Oman reserves certain professions for Omani nationals. Ministerial Decision 235/2022, extended by Decision 501/2024, added roles such as marketing specialists, sales representatives, quality control officers and some technicians, and the transport and IT ministry set a phased list for 2025 to 2027. Expatriates already working in a restricted role can usually stay until their permit expires.
- Expatriates: check the Ministry of Labour's current list, or ask the recruiter, before investing in an application.
- Omani nationals: put your nationality clearly in the header. Employers need Omani staff to meet their targets.
