A CV for jobs in Cambodia is usually one or two pages in English, or in Khmer for local companies and government posts. It lists contact and personal details, often with a photo, a short objective, education from Grade 12 upward, work experience, computer and language skills, and two or three references. International companies and NGOs expect an English CV.
These are common practices, not legal rules, and employers differ. Every example is fictional; replace each [bracketed] detail with your own, and follow the job posting when it asks for something specific.
What a Cambodian CV usually includes
| Section | What to write |
|---|---|
| Personal details | Name, phone, email, address; local CVs often add date of birth, gender and nationality, and a photo |
| Objective | Two lines on the role you want and what you offer |
| Education | Degree, university and year; Grade 12 (Bac II) for school leavers |
| Work experience | Job title, employer, dates and two or three achievements |
| Skills | Computer programs and job skills |
| Languages | Khmer, English and any other language with an honest level |
| References | Two or three people who know your work, with phone numbers |
English or Khmer CV?
Use English for NGOs, international companies, banks and hotels, and whenever the job advert is in English. Use Khmer when a local employer or a government form asks for it. If you prepare both, keep every fact, date and title identical.
- Write job titles in the language of the CV; do not mix scripts in one line.
- Keep the Khmer version for printed applications that ask for a handwritten-style form.
- Name the file in Latin letters: [FirstName]-[LastName]-CV.pdf.

Where to find jobs and what foreigners need
The National Employment Agency runs a public job portal and job centres. Foreign nationals working in Cambodia need a work permit and employment card arranged through the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training; ask the employer how they handle it before you accept an offer.
- Do Cambodian CVs include a photo?
- Many local CVs do, and some employers expect one. International organisations often do not ask for it; follow the advert.
- Should I write my CV in Khmer or English?
- English for international employers and NGOs, Khmer when a local employer or form asks for it.
- How many references should I include?
- Two or three is common. Ask each person first and give a phone number they answer.
