A CV for jobs in Tanzania is usually two pages in English, or in Swahili for some local employers. It lists personal details, a short objective, education with your degree and NECTA results (CSEE for Form Four, ACSEE for Form Six), work experience, skills, languages and two or three referees. Public-service jobs are applied for through the Ajira Portal.
These are common practices, not legal rules, and employers differ. Every example is fictional; replace each [bracketed] detail with your own, and follow the job posting when it asks for something specific.
What a Tanzanian CV usually includes
| Section | What to write |
|---|---|
| Personal details | Name, phone, email and address; date of birth and nationality are common |
| Objective | Two lines on the role and what you offer |
| Education | Degree or diploma, then ACSEE and CSEE with year, school and division |
| Work experience | Title, employer, dates and achievements |
| Languages | Swahili and English with honest levels |
| Referees | Two or three, with titles and phone numbers |
NECTA results and the Ajira Portal
List CSEE and ACSEE results with the year, school and division. Public-service vacancies are posted on the Ajira Portal, where you create a profile and upload certificates; the profile, not a separate CV, is what the recruiter sees first, so complete every field.
- Keep scanned certificates and your birth certificate ready for upload.
- Use the same names and dates on the portal as on your certificates.

Swahili or English CV?
Most private employers, NGOs and international companies expect English. Some local employers accept or prefer Swahili. If you keep both versions, the facts must match.
- What is CSEE and ACSEE on a CV?
- CSEE is the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (Form Four) and ACSEE is the Advanced Certificate (Form Six), both set by NECTA.
- How do I apply for government jobs in Tanzania?
- Through the Ajira Portal of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, where you register, complete your profile and upload certificates.
- Should my CV be in Swahili?
- Use English unless the employer asks for Swahili.
