A CV for jobs in Uganda is usually two pages in English. It includes personal details, a career objective or profile, education with your degree and, for recent graduates, UCE (O-level) and UACE (A-level) results, work experience, skills, and three referees with phone numbers. Public-service jobs often require the application form named in the advert as well.
These are common practices, not legal rules, and employers differ. Every example is fictional; replace each [bracketed] detail with your own, and follow the job posting when it asks for something specific.
What a Ugandan CV usually includes
| Section | What to write |
|---|---|
| Personal details | Name, phone, email, address; date of birth and nationality are common on local CVs |
| Profile or objective | Two lines on the role and your strongest qualification |
| Education | Degree first, then UACE and UCE with year, school and summary of results |
| Work experience | Title, employer, dates, duties and achievements |
| Skills | Computer, technical and language skills |
| Referees | Usually three: former supervisors, lecturers or senior colleagues |
How to list UCE and UACE results
- UACE: year, school and principal passes, for example "UACE [Year], [School]: [subjects and grades]".
- UCE: year, school and a summary such as "UCE [Year], [School]: Division [x]".
- Once you have a degree, keep school results to one line each unless the advert asks for detail.
