A resume in Tagalog uses Filipino headings such as Personal na Impormasyon, Layunin, Edukasyon, Karanasan sa Trabaho, Mga Kasanayan, Mga Wika and Mga Sanggunian. Most employers in the Philippines expect an English resume, so a Tagalog version is mainly for Filipino-language class requirements or ads written in Filipino. On any resume, list Filipino and English with your level.
Resume searches in Tagalog come from two groups: students asked to write a resume for a Filipino-language class, and job seekers wondering how to show Filipino on an English resume. This guide covers both.

How to write Filipino as a language on your resume
On an English resume, put languages in their own section and give a level for each. Write "Filipino" for the national language (Tagalog is its base); add regional languages separately because some employers, especially in customer service and field sales, look for them.
Languages section (fictional)
LANGUAGES: Filipino (native) · English (fluent, C1) · Cebuano (conversational) · Japanese (basic, JLPT N5)
- Native: katutubong wika
- Fluent: mahusay / matatas
- Conversational: katamtaman
- Basic: batayan

Common mistakes in Tagalog resumes
- Mixing Taglish in headings: keep headings in one language.
- Writing in casual text-message style.
- Listing a full home address and birth certificate details; city and province are enough.
- Translating official job titles that the company writes in English.
- How do you say resume in Tagalog?
- "Resume" is used as is; you may also see "talambuhay" in school settings, which means a personal history.
- What is layunin in a resume?
- The objective: one or two sentences about the position you are applying for and what you offer.
- Is Filipino the same as Tagalog on a resume?
- Write "Filipino" for the national language. It is based on Tagalog, and most employers read them as the same skill.
- Do Philippine employers accept a Tagalog resume?
- Most expect English. Send Tagalog only when the ad or a school task asks for it.
- Should I write my age on a Philippine resume?
- Many local resumes still include birth date; it is optional, and you can leave it out unless the application asks for it.
