A CV in Zimbabwe is usually two pages in English. It contains personal details, a career objective or profile, education with your degree and ZIMSEC O-level and A-level results, work experience, skills and two or three referees. If you apply abroad, especially to the UK or South Africa, follow that country's format instead of adding Zimbabwean personal details.
These are common practices, not legal rules, and employers differ. Every example is fictional; replace each [bracketed] detail with your own, and follow the job posting when it asks for something specific.
What a Zimbabwean CV usually includes
| Section | What to write |
|---|---|
| Personal details | Name, phone, email and city; national ID only on official forms |
| Profile | Two lines on your role and strongest qualification |
| Education | Degree, then A level and O level with year and number of passes |
| Work experience | Title, employer, dates and results |
| Skills | Software, licences, technical skills |
| Referees | Two or three with phone numbers and emails |
How to write O and A level results
- O level: "ZIMSEC O Level, [Year]: [number] passes including English and Mathematics".
- A level: subjects and grades in one line.
- Once you have a degree and experience, keep school results short.

Applying from Zimbabwe to jobs abroad
For the UK, use a two-page CV without date of birth or photo and check your right to work; see the UK CV format. For South Africa, see the South Africa CV format. Keep qualifications evaluated or verified if the destination country requires it.
- Do Zimbabwean CVs include O level results?
- Yes for school leavers and recent graduates; a one-line summary is enough once you have a degree.
- How many referees should I include?
- Two or three, with current titles and phone numbers.
- Do I need a photo?
- Not for most employers. Add one only if the advert asks.
