What should a virtual assistant resume show a client or agency?

A virtual assistant resume built around the tasks you handle, the tools you use and the clients you have supported, with no invented numbers.

A client hiring a virtual assistant is trusting a stranger with their inbox, calendar and sometimes their customers. Your resume has to make that trust easy: which tasks you already handle, which tools you use every day, what time zones you have worked across and how the client can check your work. General claims like "organised and reliable" help less than a named tool and a named task.

The examples below are fictional. Replace every [bracketed] client, tool and number with your own.

Lead with the services you actually provide

VA work varies widely: admin, customer support, social media, bookkeeping, research. Name the two or three services you are strongest in right under your name, because agencies filter by service.

First VA job with no VA experience

Office admin, receptionist, customer service and even running a household or a college club all use the same skills. Describe those tasks with the tools you used, and consider a small sample, such as a cleaned-up spreadsheet or a scheduling system you set up, to show in an interview.

What skills should a virtual assistant resume include?

Inbox and calendar management, customer email support, data entry, scheduling, basic bookkeeping or social media, whichever you do, plus the tools you use for each.

Should I list freelance clients by name?

Only with permission. Otherwise describe them: "Australian e-commerce store" or "US real estate agent".

Is a VA resume different from an admin resume?

The skills overlap. A VA resume adds remote tools, time zones and self-managed work, and often a link to reviews on a freelance platform if you have them.
